The Home Star Energy Program is the brain child of the Obama government to make America a green and safe place to live in. It is a known fact that United States has the largest foot hold in carbon deposits when compared to all other countries in the world. Only with the combined effort of the people and the government, the country will be able to reduce on its carbon deposits and become an energy efficient nation.

The main aim of the Home Star Energy Program is to create awareness among the residents, to make their home energy efficient which will not only save the environment but also help them save a lot of money on their energy expenses. This is possible only if the home owners take necessary steps to make improvements in their cooling and heating systems and make other changes which will increase energy efficiency.

In a typical modern home, after the needed improvements are made, 15 – 20% of energy can be saved and this can be done by taking the first steps of reducing the emission of green house gases at home by using less energy. It is also dependent on the type of insulation that is used in the floors, walls and the ceiling in the home. If the movement of hot air and cold air that passes in and out of the home is avoided, a lot of energy can be saved.
